Frances Perry has enjoyed art since she was young, but her love of the medieval world was started when she was introduced to 15th century reenactment with the Wars of the Roses Federation. Fran is an active member of Towton Battlefield Society, and their affiliated reenactment group, the Frei Compagnie. She also goes to larger UK reenactment events with Sir John Savile's Household reenactment group. Fran practices traditional longbow, and Historical European Martial Arts when she has the time. When not reenacting or in her full-time job, Fran can be found painting, sewing, drawing or thinking about the next thing to make! |

2011 welcomes a new woodworker to Medieval Art and Woodcraft! James Rayner was taught woodworking by his Father. This was not the glue and screw carpentry of the modern world, but traditional country joinery using a few simple tools. Combining this with a love for history, James has been studying Medieval to 17th century furniture and wood-ware since 2006, with a view to accurately reproduce not just the objects, but the tools, techniques and finishes also. When not working in his workshop, James divides his time between restoring his 16th century house (and making furniture for it), managing a small woodland and his many other interests. |
